DESCRIPTION:Business\, community\, education\, non-profit and local government leaders are invited to a public presentation on best practices in cultural awareness\, diversity\, equity and inclusion at 6 p.m. Tuesday\, October 19\, 2021\, at SUNY Adirondack. There is no charge to attend. The program is sponsored by SUNY Adirondack\, Glens Falls Hospital\, Economic Development Corp. of Warren County\, Behan Communications Inc.\, The Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce\, and Advokate. The program will be presented by Nicole (Nicky) Hylton-Patterson\, director of the Adirondack Diversity Initiative. It will conclude by 8 p.m. Registration is required. Facial coverings must be worn. \nPresentation Overview: \nThis presentation will cover critical considerations for organizations and communities focused on developing and executing a shared vision for greater diversity\, equity\, inclusion\, and belonging. \nTarget Audience: \nThe presentation is for anyone who seeks a better understanding of the value of and need for greater diversity\, equity\, inclusion\, and belonging – especially people who lead for-profit\, non-profit and public organizations. Those involved in hiring and recruitment\, marketing\, business development\, customer recruitment and retention and those involved higher education\, hospitality\, health care\, community relations\, and municipal government will find presentation especially relevant. \nThe Presenter: \nNicole “Nicky” Hylton-Patterson became Director of the Adirondack Diversity Initiative in December 2019. ADI is based at the Adirondack North Country Association’s offices in Saranac Lake. She holds a master’s degree in Pan African Studies from Syracuse University\, a master’s degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and a bachelor’s degree in African and African American Studies and Philosophy from Mount Holyoke College.
