EDC is pleased to share that beginning August 25, 2025, CDTA will launch a brand-new commuter route—Route 713—that will connect Downtown Glens Falls directly to Downtown Saratoga Springs via Route 9 on weekdays.
This milestone builds on the successful merger of Greater Glens Falls Transit into the Capital District Transportation Authority, which was facilitated by the Economic Development Corporation of Warren County (EDC) earlier this year. Since the takeover in January 2024, CDTA has operated the former Glens Falls routes under its system and aligned local fares in April 2025—laying the groundwork for this crucial expansion
Through ongoing collaboration and planning, EDC has been integral in advancing regional connectivity and is now actively working with CDTA to explore additional routes that would integrate Warren County and the Glens Falls area more fully with the Capital Region’s transportation network.
EDC President Jim Siplon shared:
“Improving transit connectivity is essential not only for local mobility but for economic growth and workforce development. As regional employers seek talent and residents look for opportunity, this new route opens doors to more jobs, more access, and stronger alignment with the Capital Region economy.”
Looking ahead, EDC and CDTA are seeking to:
◼️ Expand and optimize commuting opportunities between Glens Falls, Saratoga Springs, Lake George, Albany and beyond
◼️ Engage with employers and residents to ensure routes serve current and future workforce needs
◼️ Strengthen infrastructure and sustainable regional growth through improved transit connectivity
We applaud CDTA for this forward-thinking investment and reaffirm our commitment to collaboration and progress. Together, we’re opening new paths—for commuting, for business, and for opportunity across our region.
