Glens Falls has become a foodie’s paradise, full of quaint cafes, bold flavors, and incredible variety. The latest addition, Alif Cafe in the former Samantha’s Cafe space on Glen Street, was recently reviewed by Susan Davidson Powell of the Albany Times Union. This hip retro-urban cafe is a lounge with modernized Pakistani street food and a halal bar.
Powell reports, “The large, open space blends barn wood and industrial piping, with black support columns graffiti-ed by visiting guests. The 24-year-old owner, Muhammed Saud, whose parents own Tandoori Grill and Alif Cafe in Lake George, installed a tandoor oven for pillowy, blistered naan and created a series of handheld ‘naanwiches’ stuffed with beef, chicken tikka or vegetables, and buttery paratha bread stuffed with cheese or potato (aloo), quartered for bites on the move.”
Saud has a TikTok following of almost 30,000. His popular videos go a long way in garnering interest in his halal bar and modern Pakistani street food.
