Year-round opportunities to recreate outside are abundant in Warren County. From downhill skiing at Gore Mountain and West Mountain to a winter walk on the Warren County Nature Trail and Nordic Ski System in Warrensburg, there are plenty of ways to take in the fresh air all year long.
“Even though it’s cold outside, people are still using our new courts at Crandall Park,” Amy Collins, Glens Falls’ Tourism & Downtown Business Coordinator, reported on November 18. “They bundle up and they go play pickleball and tennis. We’re working to bring up our recreation areas because we have so much green space and we want to welcome the rec. enthusiasts. In these unprecedented times, we’ve got to create more opportunities to play outside.” Coming in spring 2021, the Crandall Park Beautification Committee plans to install a splash pad and is currently working on creating a disc golf course. Amy also mentions that the City is exploring a bike-share program.
Speaking of biking, the Gurney Lane Mountain Bike Trails network made Red Bull’s list of the six best northeast mountain biking trails, published on November 12, 2020. This is a network with 13 miles of singletrack and doubletrack trails over 152 acres, with trails ranging from easy to intermediate to difficult. Access is free.
Throughout Warren County, there are snowmobile trails, ice skating rinks, cross-country ski trails, and cozy winter lodges for a weekend trip or getaway. Once you see what Warren County has to offer, you won’t want to leave!
