Meet EDC Warren County’s summer intern, Nick Westfall
Nick, a rising senior at Glens Falls High School, is currently enrolled in an early business program through SUNY Adirondack. Nick has been assisting the EDC with a variety of tasks and compares interning with the EDC as the equivalent of a dream job.
Nick writes:
I have multiple reasons for choosing EDC. Jim Siplon has always been a close family friend and working under his wing is something I attempted to do since I was 10 years old visiting the old Just Water factory.
EDC was just the perfect choice for a high school kid who is strongly addicted to the world of business.
I plan to study either Finance or Marketing in college, however, any of the business majors that are available are incredibly intriguing to me. Currently, I am hoping that I will be able to work as a financial consultant or manager of companies in need of assistance.
I think our region is special because of its natural uniqueness and beauty. When speaking with my father, who has seen many more places than me, he agreed, saying the reason he chose to return to Glens Falls is that it was surrounded by the most unique natural places you will ever see.
We have the most beautiful ski mountain in all of New York and we have some of the greatest communities in all of New York.
Finding a way to utilize Gore Mountain and its obvious economic opportunity is something that has kept me vitalized and ready to work every morning. I truly feel if we can utilize our amazing winters here in Warren County, we can become so economically sound that we would only be able to build upon the beauty of this amazing region.
