The Glens Falls and Warren County communities collectively mourn the loss of longtime Glens Falls City Attorney and community leader Ron Newell. Mr. Newell was both a remarkable legal resource for city government and a distinguished advocate, servant and investor who was enthusiastically committed to the renewal and growth of the Greater Glens Falls community.

“Ron was a trusted resource for Glens Falls and the Region. He was a tireless advocate and devoted servant to the city and someone who made an enormous impact in our community. He worked for many years to help grow the city and area he loved and we will miss him terribly. Our thoughts are with his family and all who knew and loved him,’’ said Warren County Economic Development Corporation Board Chair and fellow attorney Matt Fuller.

“One of the first people I met when I came to Glens Falls was a one-of-a kind attorney and counselor to the city named Ron Newell. He loved Glens Falls so much it literally drove him to continue to serve long after many would have slowed down. He was a champion for Glens Falls and so many people in it. He served us all and did so with a sly laugh and a unique sense of humor. I miss him already and will hold his wife Marti, daughter Becca and his entire family in my heart as we all mark the passing of a loyal son of this wonderful place,’’ said EDC Interim President Jim Siplon who met Ron when he arrived in Glens Falls to establish JUST Water.

“On behalf of the EDC and so many in the business and public sector world Ron worked in, we express our condolences to the Newell family as we reflect on a remarkable man and his life of devoted service.”
