Today marks more than the ribbon cutting of a beautiful new venue. It celebrates an investment in one of Warren County’s most important economic assets.
EDC Warren County was proud to join community leaders, state officials and project partners in celebrating this milestone. The presence of New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, Assemblyman Matt Simpson, Assembly Minority Conference Leader Ed Ra, Department of State Community and Economic Development Division Director Amanda Smith, Mayor Ray Perry and many others reflects the significance of this investment for both Lake George and New York’s visitor economy.
Shepard Park has long been the cultural heart of Lake George. The new performance pavilion builds on that legacy with a modern, accessible venue that will host concerts, festivals and community events while enhancing the experience for residents and visitors alike.
At EDC Warren County, we often speak about the Experiential Economy as one of the three pillars of our regional economic strategy. Projects like this demonstrate exactly why.
Economic development today is about more than infrastructure. Communities increasingly compete on quality of place. Investments in arts and culture, recreation, waterfronts and vibrant public spaces attract visitors, support local businesses, encourage talent attraction and create communities where people want to live, work and invest.
Every performance at Shepard Park helps generate economic activity by supporting nearby restaurants, retailers, lodging properties and small businesses, while encouraging visitors to stay longer and return more often.
The new pavilion also complements the momentum created through New York State’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative investments in Lake George, demonstrating how thoughtful public investments can work together to strengthen communities and generate lasting economic value.
Congratulations to the Village of Lake George, New York State, AJA Architecture, VMJR Construction, StudioA Landscaping, Ellsworth & Sons and everyone whose vision and partnership brought this outstanding project to life. We look forward to seeing Shepard Park continue to create memorable experiences while strengthening our regional economy for generations to come.
