Congratulations to the Town and Village of Lake George and the many community partners whose leadership and collaboration have helped bring the internationally recognized IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon to Lake George on June 13, 2027.
This exciting announcement represents much more than a world-class athletic competition. It is a significant opportunity to strengthen our regional economy, attract new visitors, and showcase the extraordinary recreational and natural assets of Lake George and the Southern Adirondacks.
The projected economic impact is impressive:
◾ $4.68 million in total regional economic activity
◾ More than $3 million in direct business sales
◾ 5,530 hotel room nights generated
◾ More than 11,000 visitor days
◾ Approximately $213,000 in local tax activity
These advance estimates demonstrate the potential benefits for our hotels, restaurants, retailers, attractions, and other businesses throughout Warren County.
For EDC, this announcement is an excellent example of our Experiential Economy strategy in action. By leveraging our region’s natural beauty, outdoor recreation opportunities, hospitality infrastructure, and strong community partnerships, we can create economic activity that extends well beyond traditional tourism.
With a three-year commitment beginning in 2027, IRONMAN 70.3 also presents an opportunity to introduce Lake George and Warren County to new audiences, many of whom may return as visitors, future residents, entrepreneurs, or investors.
Importantly, the June event brings substantial visitation ahead of the traditional peak summer season, helping support local businesses and strengthening Lake George’s position as a premier destination for sports tourism and outdoor recreation.
Congratulations again to the Town and Village of Lake George, Warren County, and everyone involved in bringing this exciting opportunity to our region.
