A recent report from the state Department of Labor shows that the number of private-sector jobs in the Glens Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) grew by 6.1 percent over the past year, an increase of 2,400 positions. In the same period, the data shows, nonfarm jobs increased by 4.7 percent, or 2,300 jobs.
The DOL report also indicated an increase in jobs in sectors including Natural Resources, Mining and Construction; Manufacturing; Trade, Transportation and Utilities; Financial Activities; Professional and Business Services; and Leisure and Hospitality. Educational and Health Services and Government both saw a loss of positions in the Glens Falls MSA.
By comparison, the Albany-Schenectady-Troy MSA experienced a 2.5 percent increase in nonfarm jobs and a 3.2 percent increase in the private sector.
