Glens Falls, NY, March 28, 2023— Sustainable PR, a green-focused public relations agency in Glens Falls, NY, is partnering with the City of Glens Falls and Crandall Public Library to host its 3rd annual Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 22nd from 10:00 am-2:00 pm.

This year’s kid and pet-friendly outdoor community event will be held behind the Crandall Public Library in Glens Falls’ City Park and expects to more than double the number of exhibitors from year’s prior. The day will be packed with interactive sustainability-related activities, informative commentary from notable climate-speakers, an electronics recycling drop-off, and table displays from regional climate advocacy groups, environmental organizations, and local sustainably minded businesses. And for the first time, there will be electric vehicle (EV) displays, as well as an Earth Day themed raffle featuring eco-friendly and climate conscious items donated by local businesses.

By providing a fun and enriching Earth Day event for the communitywith activities for all agesSustainable PR hopes to continue to build connections and facilitate conversations concerning sustainability and how collaborative action can help protect the environment, create economic opportunities, and thwart climate change.

“Our goal for our third-annual Earth Day Celebration is to expand the number of community partners and organizations involved to appeal to a more diverse audience and showcase the broad scope of sustainable initiatives sponsored in our region ,” says Sustainable PR’s principal and founder, Tony DeFazio.

At 11:30 am, DeFazio, will introduce the events’ speakers:

At the commencement of the final speech, the winners of the Earth Day raffle will be announced. Participants must be present to win.

The community will have the opportunity to participate in a multitude of hands-on learning experiences at the event. Adirondack Mountain Club will be hosting two leave-no-trace training sessions, and the Adirondack Watershed Institute will showcase their model watershed and examples of invasive species affecting our local bodies of water. Booth exhibitors at the event will include Adirondack Council, Zero Waste of Warren County, Cipriani Energy Group, Capital District Transportation Committee, Think Energy Plus, Bike Glens Falls, Warren County Cornell Cooperative Extension, ADK Worm Farm, and more.

Crandall Public Library will be hosting an electronic recycling event. All electronic items will be accepted! Earth Day will mark the grand opening of the library’s Seed Library! Patrons can talk to a Master Gardener about saving seeds and the Seed Library Series programs that are scheduled throughout the growing season.  There will be seeds for all visitors! Downstairs in the library’s community room, there will be DIY Eco-Friendly Household Products and DIY Eco-Friendly Childrens Projects Workshop. And the children’s department will be leading an interactive story time featuring Fun Family Favorites for Earth Day. Join them for Earth Day stories, songs, movement activities and more!

Returning this year is Sustainable PR’s interactive public art installation, a trio of larger-than-life public chalkboards on which participants of all ages can write and draw their messages of hope for Earth Day and what “sustainability” means to them (see photos).

The event will also mark the official opening and operation of the Glens Falls Urban Agricultural Pilot, an indoor hydroponic farm that the city has funded in part by a grant from the Empire State Development’s Smart Cities Innovation Partnership, with partnership support from the New York city based Re-Nuble company. The project is located on the third floor of 22 Ridge Street, above Farmacy restaurant.

“Dr. Jeffrey Flagg, the city’s economic development director is thrilled to announce the project’s key milestone of operation. “This project has been in development for a long time, and we have been anxiously waiting for operations to commence.  Our plan going forward is to gather the data we need from farming operations to determine whether ours is a replicable, sustainable model for other communities.”

Dr. Flagg will be leading three tours of the farm throughout the Earth Day event to showcase the project. The tours will run 10:00 am-10:30 am; 10:45 am-11:15 am; and 12:15 pm-12:45 pm. The public is welcome to attend!
