Semiconductor Manufacturing in NY Expected to Strain Electrical Grid

The Independent System Operators most recent annual report showed that two years ago, 22 percent of the market was from hydro-electric power, 21 percent was from nuclear power, 4 percent from wind and less than 1 percent from solar, while more than 51 percent came from oil and gas. With pressure coming to keep up with the growing semiconductor sector in New York, EDC believes it makes sense to be supporting clean energy hydropower assets as it has the capacity & sustainability to keep pace better than other energy segments. EDC, together with our North Country and Capital Region partners are particularly focusing on re-investing in aging network of small scale hydropower assets in the ADK to support the state’s energy goals and support local large scale users in the region. https://lnkd.in/egc_eQHH
