Congratulations to the Siena University men’s basketball team on capturing the MAAC Championship and earning a long awaited return to the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament.
After 16 years, the Saints are headed back to the “Big Dance.” An outstanding accomplishment for the players, coaches, alumni, and the entire Siena community.
In the Glens Falls and Adirondack North Country region, Siena’s success resonates in a special way. Over the years, many Siena alumni have built their careers and lives across our communities. The region has long been part of the Saints’ extended fan base.
There is even a memorable chapter of Siena basketball history right here in Glens Falls. In 1994, the Saints hosted an unforgettable postseason game at the former Glens Falls Civic Center, where a packed arena helped propel Siena to a victory in the National Invitation Tournament and a trip to the semifinals at Madison Square Garden. For one electric night, Glens Falls truly became part of Siena’s home court.
Moments like this year’s championship remind us how college athletics connect communities across the Capital Region and Adirondacks.
