EDC mourns the passing of John C. Lemery, a revered longtime friend, member and supporter of the EDC.
John’s unwavering dedication to economic development profoundly shaped Warren County’s future. During his distinguished legal career, John played a pivotal role in shepherding several high‑impact, regional signature projects through the approval process—including:
◼️ The 1,350‑acre Luther Forest Technology Campus, widely regarded as the largest economic development project in Upstate New York, which has become a cornerstone for growth and now the home of Globalfoundries.
◼️ The Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark, a $46 million undertaking and New York’s first indoor waterpark hotel, now a year‑round tourism magnet.
◼️ Development of Hiland Park in Queensbury, a transformative project that continues to bolster the vitality of the local community.
John’s wit and sense of humor were legendary. His sage guidance, legal acumen, and collaborative spirit helped turn these vision-setting initiatives into reality. His legacy extends far beyond bricks and mortar—it lives on in the enhanced economic prosperity and community sense of pride in Warren County.
Please join us in honoring John’s extraordinary life and contributions. We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
