Our region is taking a bold step forward. Earlier last week at the EDC Warren County Annual Luncheon, President Jim Siplon announced the launch of a new Steering Committee for a proposed Center for Freshwater Protection in the Lake George watershed — an initiative that will build on the success of the Jefferson Project and position our region as a global leader in freshwater science, technology and commercialization.
In his recent interview with Capital Tonight, Jim outlines the vision: a hub that brings together academia (including Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute), industry, government and community stakeholders to protect and enhance one of our greatest natural assets, and in the process spur innovation, jobs and economic growth.

Looking ahead, there are tremendous opportunities for local businesses, educators, and communities to engage, whether through sensor networks, data analytics, clean-tech spin-outs, workforce pathways or partnerships in freshwater monitoring and resilience.
