For generations, our region’s economy was built by manufacturers, mills, and industrial employers that created opportunity for thousands of families.
Today, those roots still matter, but stories like Joe Gross and Gross Electric remind us how economic development evolves.
A recent story from the Albany Business Review highlighted the remarkable growth of Gross Electric and founder Joe Gross, who started the company from a garage in Queensbury in the mid-1990s and built what is now one of the region’s largest electrical contractors.
This is what entrepreneurial success looks like.
Local people building companies. Companies creating careers. Businesses adapting to changing markets and finding new opportunities as the economy evolves.
Today, Gross Electric employs more than 400 people locally and generates an estimated $100+ million in annual revenue, a powerful example of what homegrown businesses can become when innovation, hard work, and opportunity come together.
This is exactly why supporting entrepreneurship, small business growth, workforce development, and creating places where people want to live and invest matters.
Congratulations to Joe Gross and the entire Gross Electric team on building something that continues to power both our economy and our communities.
