Lake George’s tour boats are at the heart of our community and generate real economic impact for the region.

EDC recently completed a public data economic impact model to better understand how sightseeing cruises, dinner boats, and waterfront tours contribute to our local economy. Even using only publicly observable information like schedules, capacity ranges, and New York State visitor spending benchmarks, the results are clear. a single large vessel on Lake George can support 4 to 9 million dollars in total economic output each year and help sustain between 50 and 120 local jobs across hospitality, retail, dining, and related services.
The devastating fire aboard the Adirondac, part of the Lake George Waterfront Cruises fleet, has left our community heartbroken. The Adirondac has been a beloved presence on the lake for nearly two decades. Its loss is felt deeply by families, visitors, and everyone who treasures Lake George. EDC extends its profound sorrow to the owners, Will and Katie Carson, and to all who have been affected.
We are encouraged by the announcement that the owners intend to rebuild. Replacing the Adirondac will protect the significant visitor spending and job support connected to this vessel and reflects confidence in the long term strength of Lake George as a destination.
EDC stands ready to support the sector as it recovers, rebuilds, and continues to shape the Lake George experience for generations to come.
After the blaze was put out and The Lake George Waterfront was able to debrief, they released a statement to social media.
In the statement they write :
This has been a heartbreaking moment for our Waterfront Family and our community, but we want to end on the note that matters most: the Adirondac will return with the same dedication, spirit, and heart that Lake George has known her for.
They also add that they are “deeply grateful for the overwhelming support” from the community
